The Sunshine Blogger Award

Oops, something's gone wrong on Planet Dom

Happy February, everybody!

Well that’s a great start to a new month, I survived my first Dry January and I’ve been nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award! I’m especially pleased with this nomination as my aim is to bring a little ray of sunshine to you all from Planet Dom. Thank you to Girl Friday for nominating me. If you’re a chionophile, like me, check out her post about Snow Quotes, there’s some great images to feed your imagination.

The Rules for The Sunshine Blogger Award are:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.

3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

4. List the rules and display The Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or in your blog.

Questions for Nominees:

  1. What is your favourite comedy sketch?
  2. Describe yourself in five words
  3. What is the scariest/most extreme thing you’ve ever done?
  4. What wrongs would you put right if you were invisible for the day?
  5. What’s on your bucket list?
  6. What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
  7. What questions would you like to ask anyone, alive or dead?
  8. What’s your view like from Planet Earth today?
  9. If your house caught fire, what belongings would you rescue?
  10. Have you ever been stranded abroad?
  11. Have you ever appeared on TV / radio?

My Answers to GirlFriday’s Questions:

1. How did you choose your blog name?

It’s about my partner, Dom. I’m convinced he’s from another planet, so the Planet According to Dom was born.

2. What is your greatest ambition?

Dom and I ran an adventure group for 12 years. Planet Dom is a precursor to our adventures during that time. I’d like to see it turned into a TV series with celebrity guest spots (a bit like Frasier). How’s that for ambition! I just have to write it first.

3. Where is the most exotic location you have travelled to?

Sumatra. You can check out my photos here.

4. What is your favourite book?

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

5. If you could be an animal for the day, what would it be?

A sloth.

6. When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?

At Christmas. Playing Scrabble with a dyslexic is always entertaining!

7. What is your drink of choice?

Black tea, I drink copious amounts of it. Alcohol wise I like a dry white wine, but keep me away from bubbles!

8. Which famous person, dead or alive, would you like to have lunch with?

Sandi Toksvig, I bet she has some really funny stories to tell!

9. What is your first childhood memory?

I can’t remember!

10. What is your favourite pizza topping?

Mushrooms. Can’t beat a bit of funghi.

11. Can money buy you happiness?

No, but I’d like to see if it can!

  1. Thank you so much for the nomination, Jane, but unfortunately I can’t accept it as I have already participated. I really appreciate you nominating me. 😁 Your answers are so funny and I can’t imagine playing scrabble with someone with dyslexia. I adore sloths but I am much more like a raccoon – nosy, full of chatter and naughtiness.

  2. Thanks for the nomination! Here are my answers!
    1) my favorite comedy sketch is Carol Burnett show, when she plays scarlet O’Hara and walks down the stairs with the curtain rods in her dress
    2) sarcastic, logical, hyper, short, urban
    3) hot air balloon ride. I’m scared of heights but I loved it
    4) I would make sure people pick up after their dogs
    5) visiting all 50 states
    6) walked down the street with my skirt tucked into my pantyhose
    7) what is your biggest regret?
    8) hmmmm….my living room
    9) my cat and my dog. Only thing I want
    10) never been stranded abroad. Though when we were in Tahiti our airline went on strike so we had a small window wh3n we thought we were going to be stuck there
    11) I’ve been in the background of show tapings but that’s it

  3. Congratulations and thank you soooo much for nominating me too!

I love your answers. Good choice as a pizza topping. Sandi Toksvig is awesome too! I bet she’d be an awesome person to chat to over lunch! 😀

  4. Congratulations on your own recognition, and thanks so much for the nomination. I tend to shy away from this type of thing, for various reasons, but I’ve received several of these nominations recently and perhaps it’s time that I acknowledge them all with one massive post. Of course, this means I’ll break at least three rules during the process, as that’s my preferred methodology at Bonnywood, but I just might be able to cobble something whimsical together. Stay tuned! And thanks again!

  6. Ah! First of all, CONGRATS! I’ve been meaning to come by and read and the time slips away from me. Your answers were very fun to read!

Would you mind if I answer your questions here? I’m so humbled to be nominated by you!

    1. I have a weird sense of humor, so I suppose it really depends. I love Gabriel Iglesias! Apparently nobody else is currently coming to mind… 🙃😅
    2. Loyal, bossy, know-it-all, witty, and sassy.
    3. Hmm… off the top of my head, I can’t think of anything. I feel like the whole spell of university was “scary” in the moment, but at the same time it was so incredibly thrilling. Also, how incredibly nerdy of me to say! lol
OH! I went zip lining and white water rafting a few summers back. The zip lining was A BLAST! I was petrified to go white water rafting, though. Does this count???
    4. Oh geez. Let’s see: the way people address one another so carelessly; the way books are mistreated (like holding a book the wrong way and the spine breaks apart!); forcing people not to tailgate while driving. There’s probably more but this sounds awfully ambitious of me already.
    5. To travel to Europe and read all of my “to be read” books; but I don’t think that list will ever be short lol
    6. Looooooads of things. I mean calling anyone who isn’t you mom “mom.” That’s always embarrassing lol
    7. “What would you consider a perfectly ordinary day?”
    8. Splendid, especially for a Monday! I had great tunes to jam to on the radio on the way to work, so it’s been fairly jazzy.
    9. Belongings, such as material possessions? My books and laptop. I’d probably try to save my whole room (stupidly) but an armful of books, laptop, and probably my purse!
    10. Nope, hopefully it won’t happen! Yikes.
    11. I have been on TV for like a hot second. Got like half of my face in there lol

Thank you for nominating me!!! ☺️💜
